PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt conveyor structured so that a take-up-equipped squeeze pulley and a slackening squeeze pulley are supported on a drive unit, capable of reducing the force required to perform setting and removal of the pulleys, and easy to perform the setting and removal operations of pulley shafts. SOLUTION: The conveyor 1 is structured so that a catch clip 23 is attached fast to each side plate 7 of the intermediate drive unit 5 of a conveyor frame 2, where the shaft end of the slackening squeeze pulley 12 is hitched. One of the side plates 7 of the intermediate drive unit 5 is provided with a long hole 30 for supporting the take-up-equipped squeeze pulley and a Z-notch 31 for supporting the slackening squeeze pulley while the other side plate is provided with a Z-notch 31 for supporting the slackening squeeze pulley shaft and a C-notch for supporting the other shaft end of the takeup-equipped squeeze pulley. Because the belt can be changed over from the slack condition to the tight condition and vice versa by shifting the fulcrum position of the slackening squeeze pulley, the force required to perform the pulley setting and removal operations can be reduced, and the setting and removal operations of the pulley shaft at the time of removing the belt can be facilitated.
