PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accounting method which enables even an image forming device, such as of an ink jet system, a thermal system or a sublimation system, etc. which do not perform fixing processing in one sheet of recording paper unit to account according to the usage of a device in alignment with the object of a device maintenance, and to provide the image forming apparatus which mounts the same. SOLUTION: The recording paper 30 is conveyed by left from right in the direction of an arrow head X. With this constitution, in the case that the recording paper 30 moves in the bottom of an ink output section 20, an image is formed on the recording paper 30. Moreover, the ink output section 20 does not move in a sub-scanning direction (a longitudinal direction of a drawing), but moves into the drawing (main scanning direction). Both the side parts of the ink output section 20 are equipped with sensors 6. When the recording paper 30 is conveyed, an inlet sensor 6a ahead of the ink output section 20 and an outlet sensor 6b back of the ink output section 20 detect the end of the recording paper 30. When the tip of the recording paper 30 is detected by the sensor 6a or the rear end is detected by the sensor 6b, the accounting process is started. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
