PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for communicating with a data memory module or a control module in a cordless power tool without disassembling the tool or including an additional communication port. SOLUTION: Information and data are transmitted in a one-way or two-way direction with an electronic module installed within a cordless electric tool 14 through power source terminals 22a and 22b. Instead of an electric cell pack, a data transmission device 18 is connected to at least one electric supply terminal. Using the data transmission device 18, a voltage to be supplied to the electric tool is transformed so as to become in a suitable time series between 1st and 2nd levels in accordance with a specified communication protocol, and data are transmitted from the electronic module of the power tool to the data transmission device. Voltage signals applied to the electronic module of the power tool are shifted in an appropriate time series arrangement between the 1st and 2nd voltages, and data from the data transmission device are transmitted to the power tool.
