PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boring machine for boring a tapered hole of a rudder for a ship, which can efficiently and accurately machine the tapered hole, is small in size and portable. SOLUTION: A headstock 60 holding a main spindle 62 extending in forward and backward directions and a tool post radially-feeding spindle extending in the forward and backward directions in the core of the main spindle is arranged movably in right/left, upward/ downward and forward/backward directions on a base 15 capable of being removably installed on a machine base via right/left, upward/downward and forward/backward feed screw mechanisms. A facing head 70 having a tool post 71 transmissibly coupled with the tool-post radially feeding spindle is attached to the front end of the main spindle. In addition, the feed screw 27 of the forward/backward feed screw mechanism and the tool-post radially feeding spindle are driven by means of a headstock forward/backward feed servomotor 26 for and a tool-post radially feeding servomotor 63 to which a numerical control signal based on the numerical information of the tapered hole to be bored of the rudder for the ship is inputted.
