<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having superior battery characteristics even under a severe using environment, a positive electrode mixture for a non-aqueous secondary battery, and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: This is a positive electrode active material for the non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having at least a lithium transition metal complex oxide having spinel structure. The lithium transition metal complex oxide is a particle and has on the surface of the particle a compound containing at least one kind of element A selected from a group of yttrium, niobium, tin, lanthanum, samarium, zinc, gadlinium, and neodymium.
