REMOTE LAN CONNECTION SYSTEM AND GATEWAY APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote LAN connection system and a gateway apparatus capable of remote line connection to a LAN in response to a call arrival request from a terminal at the outside of a communication network at a LAN side even when a communication network having no call arrival control function with a signal from the outside of its own network is adopted for the LAN side communication network.

SOLUTION: The LAN 7 adopting a particular communication network 4 having no call arrival control function with a signal from the outside of its own network for its connection lines includes: a LAN side connection apparatus 6 having a function of confirming a packet switching gateway 8 as to whether or not there are DTE (data terminals) 11 to 14 for requesting connection to the LAN 7 by means of polling at a time interval of T1; and the packet switching gateway 8 for including a control function of holding a connection request for a time T2 (T2≥T1) at maximum upon the receipt of the connection request from the DTE 11 to 14 to the LAN 7. Then the remote line connection from the DTE 11 to 14 to the LAN 7 is attained even when the particular communication network 4 is used for the connection line.
