PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arrangement for switching a video image while imparting a desired video effect and retaining real time operation. SOLUTION: After storing the switch start image data of a first video image and switch end image data of a second video image in the main storage of a video switch controller, a transition video image is created in the video switch controller using a transition image creation program so that the video image can be switched while imparting a desired video effect to the transition video image.
