PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system which can operate with no power supply from a commercial power supply not only at the time of waiting but also after calling operation. SOLUTION: A door slave unit 1 is provided with a solar cell 10, a circuit 11 for detecting the amount of its power generation, a slave unit side switch 13 performing on/off operation of power supply from the solar cell 10 to a living room master unit 2, and a slave unit CPU 6 for transmitting a power supply start command to the living room master unit 2 and closing the slave unit side switch 13 if the detection value of the amount of power generation detecting circuit 11 is not lower than a predetermined value. The living room master unit 2 is provided with first and second master unit side switches 19a and 19b performing on/off operation of power supply from a power supply circuit 15, and a master unit CPU 16 performing control for interrupting power supply from the power supply circuit 15 by closing the first and second master unit side switches 19a and 19b upon receiving the power supply start command.
