PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communications device being applied to a folding portable telephone and transmitting/receiving radio waves by a rod antenna, in which the antenna mechanism can be protected against damages. SOLUTION: A speaker 22 provided in a lid case is exposed, when the lid case and the body case are in open state and covered by the body case, when the lid case and the body case are in closed state. An earphone jack 28 is exposed at all times. When an earphone microphone is not fixed to the earphone jack 28, the CPU 52 outputs a voice signal, received by a rod antenna 12 from the speaker 22 and outputs a voice signal received by a rod antenna 12 from the earphone microphone, when the earphone microphone is fixed to the earphone jack 28. Furthermore, an inclination mechanism inclines the rod antenna 12 under an open state and inhibits inclination of the rod antenna 12 under a closed state. When a telephone call is placed, using the speaker 22, influence of radio waves to the head part can be relaxed; and when telephone conversation is carried out using the earphone microphone under closed state, damage to the rod antenna can be avoided.
