PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying non-linear data by a genetic algorithm for precisely identifying non-linear data whose functions are unknown. SOLUTION: This method for identifying non-linear data by a genetic algorithm comprises a first process for deciding a first chromosome structure showing the types and connection of functions selected from a plurality of functions by using a genetic algorithm by binary coding, and for deciding a second chromosome structure showing the time delay and coefficients of the functions in the first chromosome structure by using the genetic algorithm by a real number value and a second process for forming individuals by the first chromosome structure and the second chromosome structure decided by the first process, and for calculating adaptability for the target non-linear data. The processes are repeatedly performed until the adaptability calculated by the second process lies in within a predetermined range, and function formula of the non-linear data is identified based on the first chromosome structure and the second chromosome structure when the adaptability lies in within the predetermined range.
