The invention relates to a security support for mounting on a rim inside a tyre fitted on a vehicle, to support the tread of the tyre in the case of loss of inflation pressure, comprising an essentially cylindrical base, for fitting around the rim, an essentially cylindrical top which comes into contact with the tread on a loss of pressure and which leaves a clearance thereto at normal pressures and an annular body, connecting said base to said top, whereby said support is at least partly embodied by the axial assembly of a number of annular layers. Each of said layers comprises connecting walls, evenly distributed about the circumference and generally orientated to extend axially along at least a part of said annular body, embodied to cooperate with the connecting walls of the adjacent annular layer(s) to axially join said annular layers.
