PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical system capable of properly correcting chromatic aberration, capable of easily obtaining a high optical performance and having superior environmental resistance. SOLUTION: The optical system has a plurality of lenses, an optical member provided with a light-shielding means for intercepting ultraviolet rays on its light incident surface or/and its light-emitting surface, and has a diffraction optical device in an optical path. The light-shielding means is arranged nearer to a light incident side than to the diffraction optical part of the diffraction optical device through air or after it is bonded with an adhesive. The optical system satisfies 0.1<¾fu¾/f<2, if the focal distances of the optical member and the entire system are defined as (fu) and (f), respectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
