PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display performance measuring device and its method capable of measuring an objective performance of a display device on sharpness with a simple constitution or procedure. SOLUTION: A plurality of periodical image patterns having different periods respectively are displayed on a display device 16 which is a measuring object, in response to an image signal generated from an image signal generation part 11. The image patterns are imaged respectively by an imaging part 12, and the maximum value of a changing rate of brightness of imaged each image pattern is acquired respectively by a maximum brightness changing rate acquisition part 15. Hereby, the relation between each period of the periodical image pattern displayed on the display device 16 and the maximum value of the changing rate of brightness of an actual display image can be acquired as an objective measurement result showing the performance of the display device 16 on sharpness by performing simple processing for determining the maximum value of the changing rate of brightness of the imaged image.
