PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin that is obtained by polymerization even without using an antimony compound as a condensation polymerization catalyst and provides a polyester fiber having an improved color tone and excellent color development and a polyester fiber. SOLUTION: The polyester resin comprises a polyester that has a polyester-constituting repeating unit mainly being an ethylene terephthalate unit and contains 0.005-1.0 mass % of titanium oxide particle and 100-400 ppm of a solid solution composed of a magnesium compound and an aluminum compound.
