Heat-sensitive recording material in which the recording layer contains a bis-hydroxyphenyl compound and a urea-urethane compound as color developers, with a phthalide, xanthene or fluoran compound as color former. Heat-sensitive recording material with a substrate and a heat-sensitive recording layer containing a sensitiser, pigment, binder, color former(s), a phenolic color developer and other organic color developer(s). In this material (a) the phenolic developer is a bis-hydroxyphenyl compound (A), (b) at least one of the other color developers is a urea-urethane compound of formula (I), (c) the wt. ratio of (A):(I)= (1:1)-(10:1) on a dry wt. basis, (d) the color formers comprise phthalide, xanthene and/or fluoran compounds, (e) the total amount of (A) and (I) in the recording layer is 0.4-1.5 g/m 2> based on dry substance and (f) the wt. ratio of color developer to color former= (2.0:1)-(4.5:1) based on dry substance.
