The holding component (12) attaches the inner panel (11) to an outer panel (14) of the appliance door (10). The holding component (12a) is at least partially made of plastic. Its detachable fastenings (17) hold the inner panel (11a) to the outer panel (14a). The fastening (17a) is a catch or clip. It has components (18, 19) assembled by insertion parallel to the outer panel. Part (20) of the fastening holds a handle (21) of the door onto the outer panel. Another part of the fastening (17) holds a hinge (22a) of the door (10) on the outer panel. The holding component seals an intermediate space (23a) between inner and outer panels. Recesses (24) are provided in the holder to allow force transmission through it, between the appliance and the outer panel of the door. An independent claim is included for the corresponding method of insulating an appliance door.
