A sintered silicon nitride component contains 2-15Vol% of sinter additives. A surface region layer with a porosity of at least 2 Vol% is formed by chemical corrosion removal of the grain boundary phase from silicon nitride. The pores are filled with an organic component or a mixture containing an organic component.
