PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system and a method for displaying facility marks which display POI marks with convenience, without complicating displaying of road map. SOLUTION: When a user switches POI mark switching display off, all POI marks 304 having display coordinates within a display range of a road map image 301 (a) are displayed. When the user switches the POI mark switching display on, within a detailed display area 310 set around the present position, all POI marks 304 having display coordinates within the detailed display area are displayed; and outside the detailed display area 310, only POI marks 304 for facilities under categories set to be displayed all the time by the user are displayed.
