METHOD FOR REMOVING AMMONIA NITROGEN FROM WASTE WATER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing ammonia nitrogen from waste water capable of stably and efficiently removing nitrogen from waste water containing ammonia nitrogen at a high concentration. SOLUTION: In this method for removing nitrogen from waste water containing ammonia in a biological denitrifying process comprising a denitrification vessel and an aerobic vessel, the ammonia nitrogen in the waste water is oxidized by ammonia oxidation bacteria in the presence of a sulfur compound to produce nitrite nitrogen in the aerobic vessel. Further, by using denitrification bacteria, the nitrite nitrogen in the waste water is removed by reducing the nitrite nitrogen to nitrogen gas in the denitrification vessel.
