A separator/cyclone chamber (5) has a cylindrical casing (2) with a base (8). In the bottom area of the chamber there is a separate collecting area (7) with a hole directly adjacent to the casing wall for passing precipitated oil into the collecting area and for linking to an oil drain pipe (9). Pressure in the collecting area is almost equal to that on the casing wall.
