PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network system smoothly narrowing, with a simple operation, the candidate of an apparatus to which control information is to be set and thereby remarkably enhancing the work efficiency of a user. SOLUTION: Each of apparatuses 1 to 3 is provided with a means for receiving a remote control signal (infrared ray) from a remote controller 100. When the user operates the remote controller 100 while directing the remote controller 100 to a control object apparatus, the remote controller 100 transmits a transmission request of an operation menu to the apparatus by means of the infrared ray. The apparatus transmits an operation menu for controlling itself to the remote controller 100 accordingly via the network. Alternatively, the apparatus requests a server 200 to transmit the operation menu for controlling itself. The server 200 extracts the operation menu of the apparatus from a database mounted to the server 200 itself or acquires the operation menu of the apparatus from a menu providing server and transmits the operation menu to the remote controller 100.
