PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory controller and a memory control method for handling image data in real time by using a simple circuit. SOLUTION: This memory controller is provided with a plurality of sub-blocks obtained by dividing a storage region, and configured to manage an image storage memory 106 for dividing and storing image data in the sub-block units. This memory controller is provided with a status register 108 for managing the use state of the sub-blocks and a memory controller part 105 for performing access control for reading/writing image data for the image storage memory 106 on the basis of the use state of the sub-blocks managed by the status register 108.
