PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain deterioration in a sealing member without exerting influence due to oil leakage on the sealing member even if the so-called design change is practiced. SOLUTION: In this hydraulic buffer, a packing plate 6 adjacent to the sealing member 5 with the tip thereof abutted on the back of a sealing member 4 is disposed between the sealing member 4 sealing the opening end of a cylinder 1 in which a piston rod 3 is projected and recessed and the sealing member 5 serially disposed to the sealing member 4 from the outside, and connecting passages 61, 62, 63 permit communication between the inner and outer peripheral sides of the packing plate 6.
