PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method and an apparatus for enabling at least one signature to be inserted at a low cost with small labor to be inserted even in the case of successively printing with a digital printer. SOLUTION: Printing sheets printed with the printer (2) are respectively folded with a folder (21), transferred to a piling machine (20), and are stacked as contents (20) of a book there. At least one inset (A, B) is given to a single printing sheet (S1, S2), a product (SA, SB) comprising those printing sheets (S1, S2) and the given signature (A, B) are transferred as one unity, and stacked. The insets (A, B) are advantageously fed to a second transfer apparatus (4), and appended to the single printing sheet (S1, S2) with the apparatus.
