<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new protein specifically binding to alcadein and having actions so as to control the metabolism of an APP (an amyloid precursor protein) and suppress the production of an Aβ (an amyloid β protein) as a part of elucidation of the metabolic control mechanism of the APP through the alcadein and physiological functions of the alcadein itself, to provide a partial peptide or a salt thereof, a DNA encoding the protein, a recombinant vector, a transformant, a method for producing the protein, a medicine comprising the protein or the DNA, an antibody against the protein and a method for screening a compound suppressing the production of the Aβ characterized by using the protein or its partial peptide or a gene encoding the same. <P>SOLUTION: The protein comprising an amino acid sequence which is the same or substantially the same as the amino acid sequence represented by sequence number 2 or its salt and a medicinal composition comprising the same are provided. The protein or salt thereof and the medicinal composition comprising the same effectively suppress the production of the Aβ by subjecting the APP to metabolism.
