PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the contrast of an image better and its depth shortened in a rear-projection image display device. SOLUTION: No particulates of a light-diffusing material are dispersed, in a substrate of lenticular lens sheet constituting a transmissive screen 1. A liquid refrigerant is contained in a space of a joint equipment 9G, between a projection brown pipe 7G and a projection lens 8G. The inside of a case 12 is colored black. The contrast ratio for the image is higher than 70, when there is an extrinsic light, such as illumination light. When the screen size is 35 inches of a diagonal angle, the projected distance from a light-emitting surface of the projection lens 8G to the transmissive screen 1 is about 560 mm, the length of the diagonal angle of the transmissive screen 1 is about 890 mm and the angle of the image is about 77 degrees.
