PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of obtaining the amount of drawing of printing paper required for printing without causing a slip even in the case of using the printing paper large in diameter and width, and furthermore low in cost and facilitating technical adjustment. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device comprises a tension part 3 for energizing the printing paper W to form the extra length of the printing paper W of required quantity, provided between a supply reel part 1 linked with a motor driving part through a one-way clutch 513, and a platen roller 24 for drawing the printing paper W out of the supply reel part 1; a detecting part 4 for detecting the state of the extra length according to the swing of the tension part 3; and a control part for driving the motor driving part when the extra length decreases, to reset into a state of having the extra length, based on information detected by the detecting part 4.
