Porous insulating moulded body, method of making it and its use

A silicate and an inorganic component are mixed in the mass ratio 1 : 1. The silicate is natural or expanded perlite, natural or expanded pumice, expanded clay or expanded glass. The inorganic component is selected to modify the melting point of the mixture, such that it approaches the sintering temperature of the silicate. In this temperature region, the inorganic component releases a gas. An independent claim is included for the corresponding method of manufacture.
