Striker device for aligning a stack of printed sheets

A method for aligning the pages in a book block prior to binding has the block transported spine downwards between two endless band grips (33) and on a conveyor (4) to pass under the free end of a pressure plate (14) secured by one end. The top of the plate is fitted with a servo drive which imparts vibrations onto the plate to tap the pages of the block into alignment. Typical servo drives include; a rotating polygonal wheel, a pneumatic cylinder with pulsing control valve, a solenoid. The back of the pressure plate is provided with a replaceable impact plate.
