The tooth for an air jet loom is made from a plate of a material such as stainless steel, preferably 0.3 - 0.4 mm thick, and has two protuberances (14, 16) on either side of a notch (12) forming part of a channel through which weft yarns and the air driving them can circulate. At least one of the two protuberances is perforated with one or more holes (30) to reduce its weight. The tooth has two ends (20, 22) by which it is connected to other teeth in the comb, and the maximum dimension (d30) of the perforations is less that the width (120, 122) of the tooth ends. The tooth has fuurther perforations in its two branches (24, 26) on either side of a central zone (Z1) containing the notch, and all the perforations are basically circular in shape.
|
