An extrusion machine has a screw 11, perforated plate 22, a hollow shaft 30 carrying knives 38 to cut the material extruded through the perforated plate 22 and, mounted with the hollow shaft, a rod 40 having its end engaging the perforated plate 22 to support it against the extrusion pressure. The hollow shaft 30 and knives 38 are rotated by a motor 32 through a belt 34 and pulleys 33, 35. The cylinder end (see Fig. 1 not shown) may be pivoted clear of the machine to allow access to the plate 22 by means of a clamping ring 17 and cylinder 47.
