An assembly 1 is provided for pairwise coupling of a first and a second module with a third and a fourth module of a modular building construction. The assembly 1 includes a first box tie fastenable to the first and second modules, and a second box tie fastenable to the third and fourth modules. Threaded couplers 6a, 6b bi-couple the first box tie and the second box tie through slot like apertures 5a, so that the box ties are variable substantially orthogonal and colinear to the bicoupling. The assembly is also configured to accommodate misalignments in the Z direction during coupling of the modules. Each box-tie may be in the form of first and second partially enclosed boxes 2a, 2d (22a, 22b, Figure 2), or castings (32a, 32d, Fig 3).
