A slider for a sliding clasp fastener comprises a body having means for guiding the fastener members into engagement, a core-piece mounted on the body so as to be rockable in both directions of movement of the body relative to the fastener members, and a locking member pivotally mounted on the body and resiliently urged into an operative position to co-operate with the fastened members, the locking member being pivotable into an inoperative position by rocking movement of the core-piece in either direction. As shown, the core-piece B is pivotally mounted on two pins 4 and 5 fitting in recesses in the body A, while the locking member 11 is urged by a spring 10 into engagement with a recess in the lower surface of the core-piece, an arm 14 of the locking member projecting outwardly to prevent movement of the slider on the fastener members. When the core-piece B is operated by a pulling tab, not shown, the locking member 11 is pivoted about a point 13 so that the arm 14 is moved to an inoperative position, the locking member being caused to pivot by either of zones 15 or 16 of the core-piece depending upon which direction the core-piece is pivoted in. In alternative arrangements the core-piece can have two pairs of pivot pins acting in slots and the locking member can be urged to its operative position by a helical spring. |
