摘要 Perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is used as a red pigment in drying oils, paints, lacquers, natural resins, cellulose derivatives, rubber, and synthetic plastics. Various such materials are mentioned generally. In specific examples it is used to pigment the following compositions:- (1) and (4) polyvinyl chloride containing dioctylphthalate, dibutyl tin dilaurate, sodium pentaoctyl tripolyphosphate and (1) titanium dioxide or (4) whiting and mineral spirits; (2) polystyrene; (3) polyethylene containing titanium dioxide; (5) a proprietary raw rubber latex crepe containing barium sulphate, whiting, lithopone, zinc oxide, paraffin wax, sulphur, a vulcanizing agent (piperidino salts of pentamethylene dithiocarbamic acid) and 2-mercapto benzimidazole; (6) urea-formaldehyde resin moulding powder; (7) a mixture of solutions of an alkyd resin derived from phthalic anhydride, glycerol and coconut oil fatty acid in xylene and of a butylated melamine-formaldehyde resin in butanol; (8) a butanol solution of a urea-formaldehyde lacquer resin diluted with chlorodiphenyl and xylene; (9) a lacquer comprising butanol, butyl acetate, a proprietary glycol ether, toluene, alcohol, nitrocellulose, a proprietary castor oil modified phthalate resin and titanium dioxide; (10) a proprietary unsaturated polyester in styrene containing a proprietary cobalt siccative which is subsequently polymerized by adding cumene hydroperoxide and ethyl and butyl acetates; and (11) a mixture of a proprietary unesterified epoxy resin and a proprietary "oil-reactive" alkyl phenol resin in xylene and diacetone alcohol.ALSO:Fine dispersions of perylene -3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, for use as a pigment for high molecular weight organic materials are obtained (a) by precipitation from solution in sulphuric acid monohydrate, oleum, or chlorsulphonic acid by pouring into water; (b) by recrystallization from sulphuric acid or nitrobenzene; or (c) by milling in the presence of an inert salt that can be removed by solvents and, optionally, an inert organic solvent.
