The lever has an upper branch (2) to be held with a hand and two lower branches (3, 4) for fixing cables, where the branches (3, 4) are selection and passage arms, respectively. The lower branches are straight and are connected at the level of a bend (6), such that a center of rotation of the lever coincides with the point of connection of three branches. The branch (3) is not oriented in a longitudinal direction of a motor vehicle. An INDEPENDENT CALIM is also included for a process of manufacturing a gearshift lever.
