The apparatus has an pre-exhaust gas cooler (1) to cool exhaust gas, where the temperature of the cooler is maintained above condensation point of the gas. The gas with average temperature is introduced in a post-exhaust gas cooler (3) for cooling it. An exhaust gas valve (6) placed between the coolers (3), controls the flow of the gas towards intake air.
