Separate relaxation and spraying of a filter tow strip

The process and device prepares filter tow strip (2) for the tobacco processing industry. The strip, during its journey by rollers (26,27) from stock to finishing machine, is stretched in a stretching device (6) and coating material applied in a coating device (47) in an application device (7). The strip is sprayed with a softening agent such as tricetin, then tightened at one side, blasted with air by a nozzle and fed through a funnel. Tension is released from the strip before or after the material has been applied in a separate stretch or zone (8).
