A coated coil electrode for a low pressure discharge lamp has the coil (16) dip coated with an emitting material. To prevent coating of the connections (12) to each end of the coil the connections are at right angles to the coil axis, e.g. they can be taken off tangentially. This allows the processor to hold the leads vertically as the coil is dip coated. Any coating on the connections runs down onto the coil. The coil can be single wound, double wound or even triple wound, as required. |
