In a starting power generation system having a starting power generator 1 functioning as a starter motor at an engine starting time and functioning as a generator after the engine is started, the starting power generator 1 includes a stator 3 having a stator core 14 formed with a plurality of projecting poles 16, a motor coil 21 wound around projecting pole 16m and used at a motor time and a single-phase power generating coil 22 wound around a projecting pole 16g different from that of the coil motor 21 and used at a power generation time. A rotor 2 connected to a crankshaft of the engine is arranged rotatably on the outside of the stator 3. A plurality of field magnets 4 are mounted on the rotor 2 along the circumferential direction. A motor driver is connected to the motor coil 21, and an open regulator is connected to the power generating coil 22. <IMAGE>
