Synchronised retracting antenna for mobile phone or laptop

A wireless device such as a mobile phone or laptop comprises first and second moveable parts and a gear system 300 which drives movement of the second part from the first part. The first and second moveable parts may be an antenna 114 which retracts and a cover of a flip or sliding type. The gear system may comprise one or more racks 306, 308, 310 and may additionally comprise bevel gears (Fig 6, not shown). A motor may drive the rack and gear system, and a switch may activate the motor for a limited period of time.
