BATHING SYSTEM CONTROLLER HAVING ABNORMAL OPERATIONAL CONDITION IDENTIFICATION CAPABILITIES

A controller suitable for identifying malfunctions in a bathing system is provided. The controller includes a plurality of actuators associated with respective bathing unit components in the bathing unit system. During normal operational conditions, the actuators are configured for causing bathing unit components to acquire either one of the actuated state or the non-actuated state. In one aspect, the controller can detect a malfunction in an actuator based in part on a measured reaction time associated with the actuator. In another aspect, the controller can detect a malfunction in an actuator based on an expected measurement and an observed measurement, the expected measurement depending upon desired state information associated with the bathing unit components. When malfunctioning actuator is detected, an error handling action may be trigged, such as inducing a current leakage to ground such as to cause a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) to trip. A controller including circuitry for detecting a malfunction cause by a burned fuse is also provided.
