The present invention relates to a method for constructing a building foundation, and also to a building construction, in which the floor storey of the building rests essentially on the foundation which, in turn ties on the ground. In order to simplify the erection of a building and its possible conversion, and therewith reduce building cost and obtain improved heat economy, simpli- fied cable installation and good access to the appliances used in the runnin g of the building, a method has been developed for constructing a building foundation and for providing a foundation constructe d in accordance with the method. According to the invention, an insulated and separate service space (1) has been created beneath the floor storey of the living accommodation, with room for accommodating heating, ventilation and water supply systems, among other things. The insulated service space (1) is de- fined mainly by the floor storey of the building concerned, a ground insulating layer and a surrounding foundation wall or the like. Provided between the insulated space (1) and a first storey is gap (22 ) which extends along the inside of each external wall and through which air and cables are able to pass.
