The method involves transmitting an ON-message in a low frequency zone by a controller embedded onboard a motor vehicle. A confirmation message is transmitted by a badge, carried by a user, in a high frequency zone when the ON-message is not received by the badge, and is interpreted by the controller as a confirmation of output of the badge of the low frequency zone to control automatic locking of the vehicle.
