METHOD FOR RELEASING OF GLAZING PANELS

The glazing panels such as vehicle windscreens are bonded to a supporting frame (7). They are released from it by arranging light energy delivery means adjacent to the panel and subsequently transmitting light energy from the delivery means (2) through the panel (16). The light may be pulsed according to a predetermined regime and may be delivered by a discharge lamp having rapidly attenuating intensity or quasi continuous pulsed laser. The mechanism of panel release may be by thermal degradation of the banding material, cleavage of the material at a surface of, or with the body of the panel, or a combination thereof.
