A method of transforming waste gases containing ammonia and carbon dioxide, particularly waste gases from the melamine-production process, in which waste gases are directed to the reactor-absorber unit operating under the pressure of 5-15 MPa and at the temperature of 160-180 degrees Celsius, in which chemisorption and absorption processes are carried out during the barbotage through a layer of liquid; the liquid products of these processes are removed from the reactor-absorber unit and directed to the urea synthesis system, and the gaseous products are removed from the process. It is characterised in that the process condensate and possibly urea are entered to the reactor-absorber unit, and also liquid waste products from the reactor-absorber unit are compressed to ca. 23 MPa and entered into the urea synthesis reactor.
