<p>A procedure, for use on a window with a solid or laminated plastic substrate (10) of constant or varying thickness, fixed to a surrounding frame (3) on a motor vehicle by an adhesive (2), consists of determining the rigidity of the window, measured at its most supple point and its most rigid point by a frequency applied perpendicular to its surface. Experimental results show that a window with a factor of at least 6 between its most supple and rigid points has enhanced acoustic insulation properties. The same principle applies to windows made from a number of solid substrates that are fixed together, and to fixed or opening windows, while a 4 mm thick window provides better acoustic insulation than a 3 mm one.</p> |
