In a dry shaver having an apertured shear plate and an inner movable cutting member provided with cutting edges, the apertures are large enough to allow protrusion of the skin into the path of the cutting edges and the cutting member is provided with means, between the cutting edges to prevent the protrusion and avoid injury to the skin. As shown, a disc-like, rotated, cutting member 8 has concentric grooves 15 and radial grooves for cutting bars 16, the top surfaces 18 of the walls 17 of the grooves 15 and the cutting edges of the bars lying in the same plane close to the shear plate 1 which is urged by springs 6 towards the shear plate. The edges of the apertures 19 in the shear plate are bevelled for cutting co-operation with the edges of the cutting bars and the width of the grooves 15 is such that the skin is prevented from protruding through the apertures 19.</p> |
