Apparatus for discharging a vertical reaction shaft 16 comprises a shell 6 forming a downward extension of the chamber, rods or blades 1 movable transversely of the shaft by hydraulic motors 2, and a charge support 4 initially movable axially of shell 6 and forming part of a carriage having spindles 7 and 9 moving respectively in closed guide 10 and a guide 12 with a lower opening 13. The carriage is also formed with an arcuate groove 15 engaged by a spindle 8 displaceable in a guide 11 by hydraulic motor 14. Initial downward movement of motor 14 lowers support 4 until spindles 7 and 9 reach the bottom of their guides 10 and 11, whereupon motors 2 close the rods or blades 1. Further movement of motor 14 tilts the carriage, discharging material from support 4, whereupon motor 14 is reversed until said support 4 reaches its original position when motors 2 are also reversed to remove the rods or blades 1. The various movements may be controlled in sequence by a device incorporating electromagnetic valves. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the carrier is directly controlled by an hydraulic motor and another modification. Figs. 5a, 5c (not shown), has the shell movable with the carrier by an hydraulic motor on a carriage away from the chamber for discharge by tipping. |
