PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automated warehouse capable of precisely learning the positions of the columns and/or shelf plates of a rack easily and quickly. SOLUTION: A stacker crane 4 is run from the reference position at a predetermined high speed V1 along a runway 5, and when a deceleration dog sensor 16 senses a learning deceleration dog 7 of a learning dog 6 and is turned on, a learning control part 20 lowers the running speed of the stacker crane 4 from V1 to a predetermined low speed V2 for a learning deceleration division until the deceleration dog sensor 16 is turned off. When a fixed position dog sensor 17 senses a learning fixed position dog 8 of the learning dog 6 and is turned on, the learning control part 20 monitors the output of a position sensor 14 for a position sensing division until the fixed position dog sensor 17 is turned off, acknowledges existence of a column 1 from turning-on of the position sensor 14, and calculates the position and thickness of the column 1 and learns.
