PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for an endoscope capable of easily positioning a lens at a prescribed position of an image sensor while making miniaturization and diameter narrowing possible. SOLUTION: This image pickup device for the endoscope is provided with a lens frame 18 abutted on the image sensor 13 having a rectangular outer shape and supporting the lenses 15 and 16 for forming images on the image sensor 13 and a holder 17 abutted on the cover glass 13B of the image sensor 13 and supporting the lens frame 18, wherein an abutting part 17D which can be abutted on the outer shape of the cover glass 13B of the image sensor 13 is formed by extending it from the lower edge part of the holder 17 and the abutting part 17D is made to abut on the outer shape of the cover glass 13B of the image sensor 13, thereby the lenses 15 and 16 are positioned at prescribed positions of the image sensor 13.
